Los Angeles is a mecca for all things fashion. But as you accumulate fabulous frock after swoon-worthy sandal, all wardrobe additions must find a happy and organized home. The best way to upgrade your closet is to make it into a luxurious living space. Being strategic about how you design and decorate this area of your home will make you feel like you are shopping in your own closet, instead of encountering the same clothes day after day. Choosing an outfit is an essential part of the day’s commencement, meaning that your closet has the ability to set the day’s mood—so why not ensure that this area is one that leaves you feeling organized, empowered, and ready to face the day?

You can make your closet feel luxurious, even on a budget. These tips will transform your closet from drab to fab in no time:

  • Thicken shelves and divider panels: the sturdier the panels, the more expensive your closet will appear
  • Add a long hanging section for pants and long skirts and dresses to keep your clothes from looking  cramped and untidy
  • Extend cabinets to the ceiling to maximize space and make your closet feel bigger
  • Add special decorations to reflect your unique personality (like the crystal chandelier shown below)
  • Add glass dividers between purses to help them stay organized and stand upright
  • Paint walls: your closet is the perfect place to get creative and try something new
  • Add a mirror to make the room feel larger (and to see your fabulous outfits!)
  • Replace all hangers so they are consistent: one of the easiest ways to make your closet look more tidy and uniform
  • Add crown molding to the cabinetry for detail and for a unique, custom look
