For those of you who are stranded at home this summer and happen to have a 10 week old baby… (I’m not mentioning any names) you will want to read this. There is hope. These days there are staycations galore and easy ways to add a touch of summer to your life without hopping on a plane. Here are a few simple tips to create those easy breezy days of summer in your own home.

Caribbean vacation not in the cards for you? A sheer canopy can turn your bedroom into an island retreat.

Instead of one chandelier try a small grouping. This creates a cozy enchanting atmosphere.

Create a summer mudroom. A unique coat rack makes the perfect drop zone for summer hats, shoes and towels.

Designate a space as a “book nook”. Even without the fabulous nature wallpaper, making a cozy reading space will deliver you to vacation world!

Texture, texture, texture. Keep a neutral palette and layer materials for that casual summer vibe.

And last but not least, a strategically placed hammock is worth a thousand words. Need I say more…

Design Tip:
So if you are homebound this summer, like me, all is not lost. With minimal effort and a little imagination you can have a slice of summer in your own backyard.
