The Lazy Days of Summer

Having just returned from a week at the beach, and with Summer officially turning into Fall I must take one last look at the lazy days of summer.  When I saw designer Nathan Turner and Eric Hughes beach house featured in Elle Décor I immediately felt right at home.  This is my kind of beach house…. simple, casual, slightly messy with that California bohemian look that is so appealing.  It is the ultimate surf shack.  A place to kick back and relax…

Love the bright white walls with bold splashes of color

The entryway doubles as an informal mudroom

The use of tongue and groove paneling breaks up the white walls and adds charm.  Pops of color add interest.

Vintage pieces are a must, and woods add warmth

Nautical motifs can look kitschy if not done right, but they scored a home run in the bedroom.

I adore their patio with the blue and white striped wall- so clever!  And check out the matching dog beds…

And for all you dog lovers this will put a smile on your face!

Design Tip:

Keep the beach in your life by staying casual.  The most beautiful homes are comfortable and lived in.  The key is fabulous design without looking like you tried
