In the midst of COVID-19, the saying “everything can change in a blink of an eye” becomes truly believable when we’re unable to do our day-to-day activities like simply going outside. Although we’re trying to keep calm and remain positive it is always difficult to distract yourself from this situation, especially with the hysteria perpetuated in the media. In lieu of this unfortunate event, I’ve decided to share some of my survival tips for the pending quarantine.
As we all know, food is a major necessity, but going to the grocery has become very difficult for most people, particularly those who are anxious with large crowds, the elderly, and those who are ill. To avoid the long lines and potential confrontations over the last supply of toilet paper, I use Amazon Prime and Whole Foods delivery services. I’ve also left instructions for the person who may be delivering my product to place things at my door in order to minimize exposure. Being able to access basic necessities such as food and water at a time like this, makes me extremely grateful.
Being stuck in the house all day can get a little boring. While relaxing at home in your PJs and enjoying this needed time by yourself, it’s always a great idea to make your favorite drink. Along with the food delivery services, I have been using an alcohol delivery app called Minibar that is the perfect way to lift my spirits with wine, beer, and liquor delivered to my door. Not only does this app feature a vast amount of products, but they also have cocktail recipes to follow that are great for your own personal use or for big gatherings as well.
Although I’m stuck at home, I’m finding different ways to stay active. I’ve been watching my friend, Shannon Nadj, the owner and CEO of Hot Pilates on her YouTube channel. Shannon has a variety of quick workouts ranging from intense circuits, stretching, and cardio. In addition to watching her workouts, I’ve been doing some kettle ball and band exercises while I lie in front of the TV.
Going off of my previous survival tip, here are some of my favorite television, radio, and podcast shows to binge-watch or binge-listen. I’ve been bouncing around the vast amount of streaming platforms while also discovering news shows that will keep me entertained for the time being. On Apple TV, The Morning Show and Truth Be Told; On Netflix, World War II in Colour, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez, Don’t F*ck With Cats, Ozark, and Mindhunter; On Amazon Prime, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Boys; On FX, Fosse/Verdon and Pose. With radio and podcast shows, I always tune in to previous episodes of my own shows Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored and I’m Here For The Food to find out different strategies to improve myself and the show.
I’ve been implementing a new beauty routine since The One Hotel’s Face Gym isn’t taking any appointments right now. I’m using their Gold Derma Roller when applying SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier serum to my face. In addition to the roller, I’m also using Face Gym’s Gua Sha Stone’s that help reduce puffiness, improve circulation, and help relieve facial tension while contouring the face.
Since everyone is quarantined, I don’t run the risk of feeling FOMO (fear of missing out). To stay busy overall, I’m really taking it easy and moving slowly but with intention. I’m meditating, writing, and actually reading. I’m also cooking up a storm, experimenting with new recipes, doing some intense spring cleaning, taking my dog Daisy on long walks, and coming up with new content ideas for my show I’m Here For The Food.
Although COVID-19 is something that we are all experiencing, it is going to hit different for each and every one of us. I’ve shared my survival tips for this quarantine in hopes that some of you are able to implement these ideas and make them your own. Nonetheless, I hope that everyone is staying safe and taking care of themselves during this trying time.
