Mad Design

So my husband and I just started watching Mad Men this season… I know, I know we are WAY late to the game.  BUT I am obsessed with the interiors and general style of the show.  The set decorator is a genius!  All that sleek mid-century furniture and graphic patterns is enough to make me crazy.  I just spent days trying to match that blue office color for one of my clients.  So when I came across this amazing spread featuring a Washington DC townhouse my heart skipped a beat.  The house was built in the 60’s and is a fascinating mix of glamour and graphics.  It’s contemporary but grand.  It’s Mad Men modernized…. and it makes me want to sip on a gin martini!

Here are some pictures of real 60’s interiors featured in House Beautiful.  It’s amazing how relevant much of the design has remained today.

Now here are the DC townhouse pictures…. check out the de gournay wallpaper in the dining room.

Although not usually a black and white fan, this graphic foyer feels fresh and modern

Bring on the pattern!

This salon style living room is gorgeous.  The game table with those turquoise tufted chairs are straight out of a modern Mad Men episode

Love this Moroccan 60’s vibe bedroom

Try incorporating a little Mad Men decorating into your life with these pieces…
