It’s time to chase the rainbow this Saturday, February 2 at The Color Run 5k. What better way to explore the area around Dodger Stadium and the Chavez Ravine than with a full-fledged color mob? Rock a white tee so that you blend into the colorless sea at the race’s start—you’ll be a walking powder Monet or a seriously abstract Picasso by the time you reach the finish line, where the color festival culminates with more powder, food and other festivities.

You’ll get pelted by magical color dust at Color Zones throughout the 5k, but rest assured, the chalky-tasting powders are completely safe and non-toxic, though admittedly high cal. Make color snow angels, do cartwheels or take colored powder showers—just about anything goes.

If you haven’t been to an event at The Forge yet, you’re seriously missing out. This unique community art space and production house opens its doors to artists from diverse backgrounds and mediums, resulting in a wide range of cool events and art shows that are unrivalled in Los Angeles. From photo shows and screenings to dance performances and DJs spinning, there’s always something brewing at this creative sanctuary. This month, The Forge offers the perfect way to celebrate Bob Marley and everything he stood for—love, peace and getting irie—at the Bob Marley Birthday Party on Friday, February 8. A ticket gets you access to the open bar, live jams by One Drop Redemption, killer DJs, piñata smashing and positive vibes. Click here to find tickets.

On Saturday, February 9, Cinespia and LAHTF presents a special screening of Baz Luhrmann’s luminous and explosive adaptation of Romeo + Juliet at our city’s most stunning and spectacular venue, the Los Angeles Theatre. Opened in 1931, this film palace is rarely open to the public— here’s your opportunity to get a glimpse of this opulent LA landmark, with its breathtaking chandeliers, gold leaf angels and cascading crystal fountain. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, Luhrmann’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s finest is one of the most creative and brilliant films that ever graced the silver screen. Enjoy the full bar and mixologists while DJ David Holmes spins. For more info, click here.

If you don’t get all the chocolate you hoped for on Valentine’s Day, hit up the Chocolate & Art Show Los AngelesFebruary 22-23 at KGB Studios, one of Chinatown’s hidden gems. This innovative event showcases some of Los Angeles’ brilliant underground artists, photographers and designers with live music, incredible art, nude body painting, and of course, chocolate.
