Los Feliz Gem

When I came across Melissa Culligan’s fabulous home tucked away in the hills of Los Feliz my heart raced a bit.  There are very few houses I see where I love EVERYTHING and could move in tomorrow.  This is one of those.  You can tell every item was thoughtfully hand- picked.  It is so important to take the time to find unique pieces… whether at the local vintage store or through your travels abroad.  This way you can build a collection that you love, and have no regrets.

Melissa’s house to me is the perfect blend of chic casualness.  You really can see the story of her family on every surface and can just imagine them all sitting around the kitchen.  I think it’s so important for a house to reflect its owners.  After all your house is a wonderful opportunity to express yourself.

Take a look at Melissa’s gem…

Love this paper!

The white walls and wood ceiling are a perfect backdrop for interesting pieces.

I just love the layering of art and accessories, so casual yet intentional.

I am a big fan of open shelving (if you are neat enough of course!).  It allows more space to display your collections.

What girl would not want to live in this room?  So fresh and simple.

And lastly how sweet is this backyard with the yellow door playhouse…

Design Tip:

Don’t feel you have to finish your house in one fell swoop.  That is when you wind up with a set from Crate and Barrel.  Instead take your time and pick unique pieces that really have meaning to you and your family.  This way you won’t have any regrets, only a beautiful showpiece of who you are.
