I came across this amazing company the other day called ArtCraft Homes. They are a grassroots California company dedicated to creating sustainable and affordable housing for the discerning buyer. They seek out these hidden treasures in the plethora of historic neighborhoods scattered throughout Los Angeles, and then transform the houses into a tight package of usable space and fabulous interiors for the design conscious buyer. Now, these houses are not big by any means, but the space is so well allocated and every inch of outdoor space is utilized, so the end result is a light, airy bungalow packed with architectural history…. who could ask for more?

Check out these two houses they transformed…

Love the yellow door touch.

The crisp white walls and texture of the furniture creates an interesting organic feel.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the red brick fireplace.

How classy is this bathroom. See what a great towel can do!

Ahhhh an outdoor desk….

And this kitchen is lovely with the checkerboard floor and open cabinets.

This next house is tiny, but really packs a design punch!

The open rooms and pitched ceiling really give the illusion of space.

The architectural details is what makes this house so special

And finally the fabulous office in the guest house really makes a small space feasible.

Design Tip:
As I’ve mentioned before it is not size that is important, but design. These endearing homes are both under 1,100 square feet, but are so creatively rehabbed that I would happily move in tomorrow. Surround yourself with good design and you can be anywhere.
