Yesterday when I walked into the house, after a long day at work, my husband had a fire going. It was so unexpected, and so nice! The smell met me at the front door and I knew that five minutes in front of that fire would be transformative. As winter sets in I realize how valuable it is to have a fireplace. Not only for the physical traits of warmth and smell, but also for the aesthetic qualities a fireplace brings. The fireplace has a great impact on a room, and offers you a chance to be creative from the mantle decoration to the color of the brick. A fireplace is the central gathering spot for family and friends, and brings a calm happiness to the room, so don’t overlook it.

Here are some inspiring fireplace images…

I am loving the simplicity of no mantle or a simple shelf

The painted brick fireplace makes such a statement. For a dramatic look stick with black or bold colors.
White is always a classic…

Now if your fireplace is none functioning, don’t fret. There are plenty of creative ways to keep the fireplace as a design element
And these fireplaces are just downright cool
Design Tip:

If you are lucky enough to have a working fireplace, or the remnants of one… take advantage! A fire breathes energy into the room and is the life of the party. Remember to view your fireplace as an element of design too. There are many creative ways to make your fireplace a key player in the room.
