International Sensation On Mekahel Shares His Favorite Restaurants

Born in Israel, On Mekahel became an international citizen in 2014 to begin schooling for a career in acting at the Lee Strasburg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. Upon graduating the program, On landed several television appearances, modeling campaigns, and began his own underwear brand, therefore establishing his own New York City empire. Recently, On relocated to sunny Los Angeles to further pursue his career within the entertainment industry. He just premiered the second season of his show Putting On, which can now be streamed on Revry.

Coming from one of the largest food hubs in the world, On’s ability to transition to the different tastes of upscale dining and large variety of cuisines has opened him up to the never-ending possibilities that are on the West Coast. I sat down with On as he shared some of his favorite restaurants in the Los Angeles area:

Polo Lounge at The Beverly Hills Hotel

First and foremost, I love the Beverly Hills Hotel. It’s very LA and very classy. The Polo Lounge is such an amazing restaurant. This art deco eatery offers refined Californian cuisine and a tasteful Sunday jazz brunch. The atmosphere makes me feel as though I’m in Europe and I love that feeling. I used to go there often prior to COVID-19, even just for a drink, but my favorite dish by far is the Bluefin Tuna Poke. I’m obsessed and you should all try it.

Nobu Malibu

Besides the fact that they have the best scenic location right by the ocean in Los Angeles, Nobu Malibu is super fun and the food is amazing. Although they have this restaurant in New York City and other amazing cities across the globe, nothing even comes close to the view that sits before you. Drinks by the sunset with the breeze of the ocean and some sushi makes this place absolutely perfect. My favorite dish is the Japanese Wagyu and honestly, every sushi dish they have.

Mediterraneo at Westlake Inn Hotel

I first found out about Mediterraeno when my parents came to visit from Israel. I wanted to find nice places that can fit their “bougie” style around the Calabasas area. This restaurant was in the hotel they stayed at and we went there three times in one week because we loved it so much! The food, the decor, and the atmosphere were exquisite. My favorite appetizer there is the Tuna Tartare and my favorite main dish is the Pan Roasted Salmon.

Pump West Hollywood

Pump was one of the first restaurants I went to years ago when I came to LA for auditions and work. My hotel was a walking distance from the restaurant and I immediately fell in love with the place. They did such an amazing job with the garden and the decor of the restaurant. Sitting in the garden section feels as though it’s a little bit of heaven in between the trees. The Red Sangria drink is hands down my favorite sangria in all of Los Angeles (Lisa you are a genius). My favorite dish is the Pan Roasted Filet Mignon. I used to go there often for afternoon drinks or dinner. I’ve missed it so much!

On has brought us nothing but the tastiest and most elegant restaurants in the Los Angeles area. From the very classy Polo Lounge to the pretty in pink Pump, one can definitely say that On has truly transformed himself into an Angeleno. What are some tasty restaurants that you can recommend for our readers?
