Fall Back into Style:

As the weather starts to cool down I find that change is in the air. Not only for my wardrobe, but my surroundings too. Suddenly I begin to crave a new fresh look in my home. But as we all know it can be daunting to embark on a full scale design project. Instead I want to offer a few ways implement a mini fall makeover at an affordable price. These can be DIY projects or you can hire a professional. Remember that too much DIY can start to look sloppy, so make sure you maintain a good balance of being crafty and knowing when to call in the pros.

Here are some fun quick tips to freshen up your space this fall:

1. Reupholster a headboard or chair

You can often find great deals on vintage chairs at flea markets or consignment shops. Then all you need is some fun fabric to make a unique piece

2. Add vintage hardware

These  brass pulls do wonders to an old piece of furniture. This is a sure and inexpensive way to spruce up any piece you have grown tired of.

3. Add some crown moulding to a room

Adding crown molding to a room gives it definition and character. This is an easy and accessible trick that does wonders!

4. And last but not least… PAINT, PAINT, PAINT

I cannot emphasize enough what can be done with paint. And this is an easy endeavor you or a painter can do. Paint is not limited to the walls either… you can paint the floor, furniture or the ceiling. All will give you a fresh updated look.

These white painted floors give this NY apartment a great backdrop for bright colors and different textures.

Painting vertical stripes is a perfect way to add some height and interest to a room.

And a high gloss for the ceiling is one of my favorite tricks. It adds dimension and elegance to any room.
