All That Glitters

But it is, it really is – all that glitters really IS gold!  That quickly became our mantra as our Moet Chandon client challenged us to convert a 20’ x 20’ storage room into the VIP greenroom for this year’s Santa Barbara International Film Festival honorees – including the likes of Ben Affleck, Amy Adams and Quentin Tarantino.
Thought we’d share some quick, fun tips on transforming a small, dull space into something WOW.

1. Keep it light – the lighter the palette, the bigger the illusion of roominess.  We used light, bright furniture and accessories to maximize the limited space.

2. Darker underfoot – anchor the room/space with a slightly darker tone in the color family.  It “grounds” the environment and keeps the look “rich” and “luxe”.

3. Mirror, mirror – use mirrored surfaces as much as possible.  Note our 8’ gold mirrored bar as the centerpiece.

4.   Details distract – yes, we reclaimed the bottletops from consumed champagne bottles – and repurposed them as buttons on the lush sofas.  We uncovered an appropriate quote and “calligraphied” it (in gold) onto the metallic gold wall to set the tone for the guests’ experience.

5.    Saturate with color – notice we took this one to heart – we converted the quiet white walls into metallic gold glitz – and the guests loved it.  Don’t fear too much gold – be daring, be brave, make a statement.
