A Winter Wonderlanda; entertaining Aspen style

Thursdays with Mom & Michael: A daughter’s loving tribute to her mother’s weekly dinner parties in Aspen is my love letter to my mother, Elaine, who is the most talented and inspiring woman I know. Our book won an IPP Gold Medal Award for entertaining/cookbook and all author’s proceeds go directly to Evelyn Lauder’s, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. As the winter party season approaches I wanted to share with you one of my favorite party themes from the book, A Winter Wonderland.

We all get to dress with a little glitz and glamour, and I always take the opportunity to set the stage with my most dramatic tabletops of the season. These nights are all about living in the here and now, giving thanks for the many blessings in our lives, most importantly, each other!”     -Elaine
CHARGE IT!
Chargers are those large decorate plates you set your dishes on. They are like a frame for your plate, and create an integrated and elegant look when your guests sit down at the table. There is a lovely juxtaposition to layering rich textures of patterns and designs. My mother chose a white and gold theme for Winter Wonderland because it looks and feels rich and royal. The point is to capture the spirit of the season with sparkle. When you add the classy touch of chargers it creates elegance.
